Hey guys.

Ive currently had my iPhone 3G for almost a year. And an iPod touch for a few years before I got my 3G. I like the iPhone, don't get me wrong. But I think its about time to mix it up a little bit. Now I plan to sell my 3G on Ebay or something. So ill have about..700$ dollars to get a different phone. But here is m real question. Ive been out of the loop for a while and there has been alot of phones released. So I would like to hear YOUR guys opinion on the "Best" phone to get.

Any advice is well appreciated!

--Thanks

...I also dont think asking in an iphone forum that you will get many people to say anything other than the iphone. I would say if it fits your needs why change? I made the mistake of going to the blackberry and realized it wasnt for me so now im back with my iphone.

If you really want a change, the HD2 or HTC Hero would be good alternatives. Don't go the BB route.

The most important question is which network you want and do you want a keyboard. If you're patient Vzw is getting the Nexus1 and a beefed up Palm Pre this year. I have to say that I get so much from my jailbroken 3GS that there are no other phones offering something I want.

Well. I don't really care about a phycal keyboard. But. The phone I was looking at is the HTC HD2. Is this better then the nexous 1?

You're asking opinions on a phone that no one really has yet so its impossible to give you an answer and your question of "better" is just too vague. Whats better? Better at what? Its like asking if a Porsche Boxster is better than a Nissan Maxima. Two completely different OSes and purposes.

Change for the sake of change is usually a bad idea (look at the current US government :) ). Instead, decide what you don't like about your iPhone and what features you need in a phone. Then, you can easily look at all the phones out there and decide on your best fit. In any case, if you are happy with your current iPhone, I would probably wait until this summer when the next gen iPhone is released before you make any decisions.

I just bought a 3GS - and every day I feel better about the decision. The range of Apps that are useful has surprised me.

I don't understand what are you looking for?

If you like apps then the iPhone is number 1 at that.
If you are looking for battery life then you most certainty don't want a smartphone.
If you want a better then the average phone with a touchscreen that you plan on making calls from and occasionally browse the web or listen to music then you already have that.

What I am saying if you are going to sell the iPhone and sell another smartphone you will be wasting a lot of money. Since the iPhone is either better then the competition (apps) or the competition is almost the same (phone with touchscreen).

You're not going to get $700. I can get a brand new 16GB 3GS sealed for $589 on ebay.

If something works, dont change it. You'll find a lot of things you miss about the iphone. Only reason I dont have one is AT&T sucks for me here and i STILL consider getting it again.

Spec wise, yes because it has a bigger screen. But Android is more resource filled than WM IMO. So it's up to you to decide which platform you would want to choose.

Get a Droid or wait for the Nexus One. I switched from a 3GS to the Droid and my phone experience has been so much better. The phone is just as capable as the iPhone at everything, then you add the fact Verizon is overall a far better network than AT&T.

News came out today the Droid will get 2.1 and that update will also have Flash 10.1 included in it. Full Hulu on my 3G phone here I come! You won't be disappointed.

I tried the Droid for two months. I ended up switching back to my iPhone 3G. The OS/Apps weren't stable enough for me, kept getting force close all the time. The MMS is lacking also, most of the time I couldn't download whatever anyone sent me.

OK here we go, I own a 3Gs, BB Bold, and Droid. I like the 3Gs best of all, I just am not that happy with AT&T in my area. If you go Android, either get the Droid or wait for the N1 on Verizon. But IMHO as far as the phone itself goes, the 3Gs is still the best. It is the smoothest, has the most apps. and just plain works. You just have to deal with which network works best for you. I have to keep the Droid for the Network and my business but personal phone is 3Gs.
If AT&T works well in your area, keep the 3Gs, the grass is not always greener.

Well, we've also seen what happens when people stick with something because it's comfortable (See: US Government 2001-2008) OP - Get what you want. I love the iPhone because it does everything I need it to. If this isn't the case for you, then do some comparative shopping and see what fits your needs the most.
