Time for an Upgrade

So after having my iPhone for about a year now, it's time for an upgrade soon. I'm on Verizon. I have quite a few phones that I'm looking at, and I would like help choosing, If you don't mind. I wouldn't really want to root or mod a phone, but keep it as is.

Droid DNA by HTC
So as I was looking at this phone, I fell in love with the design and specs. Then I turned it on, and there I saw HTC Sense 4+. The phone itself is simply gorgeous. I've never seen a device that was so pretty. But The theme in it is really fugly. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I owned a phone with a UI that was that terrible. The worst part about that theme is the dock. It irks me in ways you you can not imagine. If the theme wasn't so ugly, I would definitely buy it within half a second.

Droid RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola
I have always been a fan of the Motorola Droids, no matter what the phone was. The thing is durable, which is a must have for a teenager , has a very simple theme, and has a very long battery life. The phone itself is ugly, but the UI is okay looking.

Windows Phone 8X by HTC
The phone has always appealed to me, with its curved back and odd color. Windows Phone 8 looks as if it could be very fun to customize, but any more than customization and it just seems too....boxy. There are barely any apps, and the apps available look ugly on the inside due to whatever Microsoft is making devs do. I would love to have this device, but I'm afraid I'll get too bored too quickly.

Samsung Galaxy S3/Note 2/Possible S4
These phones look nice in pictures, but in real life they're made out of cheap plastic and paint. The "brushed aluminum" look is just plain ugly. and the home buttons are too cheesy. Don't even get me started on TouchWiz. That thing is so ugly and cartoonish that it turns me off just by unlocking the phone. But I guess I should get used to it if Samsung is supposed to get as big as predicted. I guess I'll just have to relearn how to use my phone if I get that.

Then there's the iPhone 5..
The thing is gorgeous. Gorgeous phone. But it feels to thin and light in my hand. I would like some beef to my phone, so I know when I'm holding it. iOS is fine to me, but I want to try something new in the wonderful world of Android. I would like to have this phone, I'm just looking for something different. The screen size doesn't bother me much. I'll deal with it.

If the only thing about the DNA that you don't like is the UI, you can always download a different launcher (ex Nova launcher) from the Play Store. You don't have to be rooted to do this.

I'd go with the Windows phone. I've had one for over 2 years now and it's a lot of fun.

Galaxy anything is king of the Android world so maybe narrow your Android choices to the Galaxy Note 2 and S3. If you can wait for the S4 that's fine but... Remember the S4 is announced early March but most likely launched April or even May.

Remember the S3 was announced mid May, launched end of May and consequently launched in June in the US. Subtract a month and you have your likely launch schedule for the S4.

The Note 2 is everything the S3 is, but bigger, faster and newer. It has a bigger screen, the stylus and a faster processor.

The iPhone 5 is no slouch. It's lighter but just as solidly built. For Android, while the HTC devices are built "Ford tough", don't mistake that for reliable or formidable.

The iPhone 5 is just as well built as the iPhone 4S was.

Looks like the DNA with a custom launcher is the best option based on your choices. I recommend Nova launcher as well.

Wait a second. By upgrade do u mean subsidized upgrade. Or just upgrading for the sake if switching phones?

Cause you mentioned its been about a year since you had ur iPhone. Verizon got rid of 12 month upgrades over 2 years ago and now you have to wait 20 months.

Just for the sake of switching phones. My phone has gotten so beaten u and has severe water damage, so I just need a phone that works, and this is what I narrowed it down to.

From your description/thoughts of the phones, you have already discounted all but the Motorola and the iPhone, out of those two it is fairly obvious where you are leaning.

I wouldn't let touchwiz keep you from buying a phone. That "cartoonish" layover is really easy to cover up.

If the only thing that is holding you back from getting the iPhone 5 is that it is too thin and light, just get a case for it. That's what I did with the last few iPod touches I had, and now with the iPhone 5. They were too thin to grip comfortably, but a case fixed the problem. As for light, you get used to that. Seems stupid to pass over an otherwise fine option just because it is too thin when the problem is so easily fixed!

HTC Sense always gave me problems. Not had 1 single hiccup with the S3! I do think that Samsung is king now!
