My MBA is out of warranty but Apple clearly states on there web site that they are aware of the hinge issue and wants will fix the hinges since a lot of people have complained about it...So I set up a repair with Apple to get it sent to there depot. I checked today morning to see that it arrived and I checked again tonight and it says Step 2: repair completed then Step 3: Return Pending...I know this is a very fast turn around and I am some what worried how is it that they can do it THIS FAST....I am afraid that maybe they just found something else besides the hinge issue and decided to just send it back thats why the process went by so fast.. I know for a fact that nothing is wrong cause everything works fine but the hinge is broken...Have any of you experience this before?... Thanks

**If there was something wrong they would notify me and not just send it back right away right? Or should I not worry since they did not call me and know that they fixed the hinge issue? " Thanks..

whenever i see customers fussing about hurrying up a fix i rarely attempt to hurry it along - as there is nothing i can do to speed it up. there is no use making a big fuss.

the issue will be resolved when it is, please just be patient.

They are able to complete it so fast because most likely they are taking off the bottom panel super simple, then removing the upper display assembly and then boom putting in a new/refurbished part.

The repair men/women have done it some many times probably it takes them half the time it would you or myself. I had the same problem when I owned a MacBook air and the turn around time was 1 day shipped there. 1 day for repair and back so quite fast as well.

I wouldn't complain, my MacBook sat for 3 days untouched because of a computer glitch that didn't put it into the system once it arrived.

They're just replacing the whole lid, with display, bezel, webcam, and etc all together. Take the bottom off, remove four screws for hinges, disconnect cables, remove lid assembly, install new assembly, attach cables, tighten four screws, put bottom on... DONE. I would bet it doesn't take a tech with experience more than ten minutes including starting it, and ensuring everything works, and filling out paperwork.

I would just be happy it's on its way back! Don't worry, be happy. MacBook Air on its way home!

What is this hinge issue?

My latest gen MBA is over a year old..... don't think I'm experiencing any hinge issues.
