Just updated to Mojave from 10.9. I did a TM backup on external before updating and then physically removed TM drive. For setting up bootcamp (never used it before) it seems as though I now need to remove local TM backup files, disassociate/remove any previous TM drives, and do a disk utility disk repair. I learned this as I'm having trouble with bootcamp assistant partitioning the drive for windows.
I just want to make sure that my external TM drive can sit on the sidelines during this process for the chance that I want to go back to 10.9 with my old workflows and data.
after bootcamp is set up... how might I use the time machine backup drive again and still retain my 10.9 backup? Since I disassociated my computer from this external backup TM drive, is the external backup TM drive no longer able to sync without an erase of my 10.9 TM backup? I'm new to time machine so hesitant to mess around too much.
I realize there is no windows backup in this procedure ... just looking for dealing with TM on the osx/ MacOS side of things.
I have imac 2013 27" 128ssd+1TB fusion drive. Seems ok so far, but wake from sleep feels 4 seconds slower in Mojave.
