I noticed my Time Machine backup was running and checked how much it was backing up and I was surprised to see that it was 10GB. I hadn't made 10GB worth of changes. I was then shocked to see that the amount of the backup size was increasing. It first started at 9.71GB of 10.67GB, but it is now 10.12GB of 11.17GB.

Any ideas?

How are you checking these figures, exactly? Have you checked the increase of file size on the backup volume?

A large file will be backed up again, even if the file attributes are changed. That might be one thing to consider.
