I need some advice, please. Here is my situation:

I want to share my itunes library and iphoto library between multiple users on the same computer (just my wife's account).

I have read that putting both of these libraries in a shared folder would be best. But our libraries are increasing fast and I would rather move the libraries to an external hard drive, which I have.

My two questions are this:
Which method would be easier in sharing both itunes and iphoto libraries?

If I were to move the libraries to an external hard drive, would Time Machine be able to back up the external hard drive as well?

Thank you in advance to all people who reply, have a happy holiday!

Time Machine will pick up all EHDs connected to a computer unless you omit them. BTW I store my music and photos & movies on external HD's iTunes has no problem with my multiple computers connecting as long as I have the preference's set correctly and TM backs up all that media too.

I too have media on an external drive. Time Machine backs it up (iTunes). Now here is my specific situation:

1) iTunes library is on an external disk;
2) have an internal disk with two partitions: Tiger and OS 9;
3) my OS 10.5.8 system disk (Leopard) and TM disk are separate internals.

Now, I know TM only runs when running Leopard/Snow Leopard. So how do I RESTORE from the backups of Tiger and OS 9 and of course, my external iTunes disk? It BACKS UP all these disks (and my Leopard system disk).

And, as a general question, can I restore just one item like, say, a song? :confused:
