Hello,
after Catalina supplementary update, I cannot complete any longer Time Machine backups. They start and after a couple of GB they get stuck.

Has anyone experienced something similar and maybe addressed it?

Thanks,
Dan

Mine are working fine
I had this type problem on a previous release and it turned out to be a bad file. I think I used carbon copy and it showed me the bad file which I deleted and then all was ok again. Not sure obviously, that this is your problem but try another backup and see what it shows.

Not same problem, but, had one of my TM drives backing up real slow and always 1.2GB. Thought maybe drive was going bad, speed tests IO were slow, but no issues found via Disk Utility. After erasing and reformatting, all is well with it since. Was not a big deal, for me, losing the old backups as I have a second TM drive and probably forgot what might be on there from ages ago (read: probably not important at this time as the really important stuff was backed up via other ways/places).

Same issue here. I tried a new drive and it didn't solve the issue. Reinstalling Catalina didn't help either. Looking for a solution to this problem.

Blog on Bombich said their tests showed HFS spindle drives were slow as molasses by huge factor. I'm thinking of investing in 1TB SSD to use.

U wonder if drives are spinning down and going to sleep.

Could TM be doing new integrity he ks it be er use to and finding - but not reporting - errors or option to skip, remove or otherwise resolve issues.
