Periodically, Google Chrome is having issues where clicked links or typed URL's won't open the webpage. Sometimes I get a page unresponsive notice, but sometimes it will bring up the page after a delay.

I've noticed that each time this occurs, Time Machine is either preparing or is actively backing up. I had a similar problem with my 2012 iMac that had a Thunderbolt 2 10G adapter, but was resolved when I changed over to a Thunderbolt 2 SFP+ adapter. Currently, this is occurring with a Mac mini M1 with 10G built-in ethernet.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, have you found a resolution to it?

This also causes some apps to not open quickly. I believe the app is probably trying to access the internet for whatever reason (I'm speaking of RealVNC's VNC Viewer and Banktivity that took about 30 seconds-1 minute to open; when I checked Time Machine was backing up).

I recently installed Dropbox on my M1 Mac mini. I'm not sure if that is causing it, but I believe it's an issue with Time Machine itself.

Still having issues. It appears that the issue presents when Time Machine is in the "preparing backup" state. I tried connecting my SFP+ adapter to my Thunderbolt port, but the problem persisted.

This doesn't seem to be limited to Chrome. FaceTime, Zoom, and Teams also have connection issues when this occurs. Likewise, Banktivity will not launch during this phase (I'm assuming it is verifying subscription status prior to launching or trying to connect to servers prior to displaying the app).

It's definitely a huge problem to have such a great computer experience these kind of issues. My MacBook Air M1 does not experience this when connected to WiFi. Likewise, the Mac Mini M1 doesn't experience this when connected to WiFi.
