I've used Time Machine many times with the same setup. Today, it displayed a message that it couldn't complete the backup. Details pointed to a single .mov file in a desktop folder. I moved that file off of my computer, started TM again and it ran successfully. Which leads to a few questions:

o I played that .mov file and it appears okay. But even if it weren't, doesn't all TM machine have to do is move it to the backup drive? Why would it care if it were corrupted?

o That's an old file that has been there all along, through many successful TM backups. Why now all of a sudden would it be a problem?

o It seems odd that a full backup would be allowed to fail because of one file. Couldn't TM have done a backup and just put up a message that this one file was not backed up?

Thanks.
