I upgrade to mac os x 10.10 and backup is like very slow is there any way to make it faster?

Or is the first backup take forever?

As a followup, I don't remember Time Machine being so slow in Mavericks. I tried to use Time Machine with an external drive, and even after the initial backup, it remained slow.

A couple weeks ago, I purchased a Western Digital MyCloud 3TB. Saw that it was compatible with Time Machine and saw the same slow speeds (barring one time) that I had seen with direct connect with the external USB drive. No matter what I tried, Time Machine took forever. And on a GB ethernet, that shouldn't be the case.

I had already been using CCC for my USB backup and wanted to test the WD MyCloud with Clear Copy Cloner, by setting up a read/write sparse bundle. The results were night and day. CCC took about 5.5 hrs to backup 230 GB (on the NAS) compared to Time Machine, which would take twice (or more) that amount of time no matter what.

Since Time Machine did work well with MyCloud or my external (7200) USB drive, I am now using CCC for both backups and all is working well.

For those experiencing continually slow Time Machine backups or failures, CCC might be a good alternative for you.
