I've had to submit my 2020 Intel MacBook Pro for repair and it turns out to be uneconomical to carry out. So I'm getting a new one. I have a Time Machine backup. The machine was running MacOS Big Sur and the new one will be running Monterey and that's notwithstanding the fact that it will be Apple Silicon and not Intel. Am I going to have any issue in restoring the old backup on the new Mac?

It will work fine... but the key is to import the old data as part of the initial system setup on the new Mac. Do not setup the new Mac with an account, then import... that will cause permissions problems.

Just to avoid confusion, during the initial setup, you will get to a point where it asks if you want to import data from another Mac. Say yes, then point it to your TM disk and you will be all set.

That link from @WildSky refers to running Migration Assistant manually from an existing account, and the setup assistant is a little different. I think it is using the same Migration Assistant tool in the background, but during setup you won't see the words "Migration Assistant" nor will you need to launch it.

Yes, Setup Assistant is the overall function that includes Migration Assistant. Setup Assistant helps configure many other settings.
