Couple of Time Machine questions.....
  1. My Time machine does not automatically backup like its supposed to in El Capitan on a brand new iMac 5K. Manual backup ok. Saw that others have this issue once El Capitan was installed. I have worked with Apple and they collected reports to work on the issue. Anyone have any other updates on this issue? Apple said they never heard of it until I pointed them to this forum.
  2. Does Time Machine run when the machine is sitting at the login screen? Or does someone need to be logged in?

Thanks....

See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7258893?start=75&tstart=0 as that may apply. Basically Time machine doesn't do the hourly backups if you have a Uninterruptible Power Supply connected via USB to your system. Of course Apple has never heard of any common problems everyone else has seen, talked about on their support site and reported to them. Standard response.

Awesome.....
I unplugged my CyberPower UPS and rebooted........Time Machine has worked flawlessly since.

Thanks so much.....appreciate the help.
I don't really need it controlled with the machine anyway.......just trying to provide clean power and provide extended power for those short power drops or brownouts.

Looks like I need to have a user logged in for Time Machine to function......no big deal but thought it might work regardless since my wife and I each log out after our use.
