Time Machine restore freed up 30GB of SSD space

I had trouble with a recent application I installed. Couldnt uninstall all of the fragments and it was hogging my cpu even when uninstalled.

Anyway, I restored from a recent Time Machine backup that was made just before I had installed the naughty app. After that restore, I now have an extra 30gb of ssd space on my MBA, which is fantastic.

Has anyone else had this experience? Where has this space come from?!

That's great to know... but that wouldnt free up 30gb of space. Which is the reason for my post.

Probably caches and time machine local backups.

As Brian Y said, it was likely caches and TM local snapshots that were deleted when you restored.

Just remembered that I had excluded my Parallels Windows 7 virtual machine file from Time Machine backup, which took up about 18gb. Anyway, 12gb of freed up space is not that bad, but not so exciting after all.
