I currently have a 500GB external drive I am using exclusively for TM backups and am currently looking at Aperture's Vault to backup about 110GB of photos. My question is whether it's possible or feasible to purchase a 1TB HD and partition it to use as a one-drive backup solution used by both TM and Vault? Will this work or is it better to use separate hard drives for each application?

Its certainly possible. But then you're running the risk of losing EVERYTHING if that drives goes. Personally I would just get another 500GB external. But thats just me.

Thanks for the response. I'm planning to use my current 500GB drive as a second Vault Drive to store offsite and am hoping to only buy one additional drive to complete my backup setup. Thanks!
