The installation went smoothly and everything seems to be working fine except backups w/ Time Machine. When I force a back up it gives me an error message "Time Machine did not back up because FileVault was encrypting or decrypting a disk. Backups will resume once FileVault finishes". I went into System Preferences then Privacy and confirmed encryption was not in progress. Is this a known issue?

UPDATE: The error message disappeared. Everything works fine now.

Hmm, Apple's own Time Machine not working with Big Sur? That's a definite concern.

What version of Big Sur are you using? Version 8 of the beta just came out on Monday.

Update: looks like the issue got resolved.

I had the latest version. It was very worrying at first because no one had this issue.

Again, glad the issue got resolved. I use SuperDuper! for making my backups. Has always been reliable and continues to work flawlessly. Carbon Copy Cloner is another excellent, similar product.

I’ll have to check those out! Thanks
