Hey, I posted this thread about a month ago:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/259968/

well my HD failed a little over than a month after the last failure so I called Apple up and they replaced my 1GHz ibook G4 with a black macbook!! I'm so excited. Apparently I could have asked for it last summer when I had 3 major hardware replacements on one repair (there were also other parts replaced that I didnt list on my last post apparently) but i thought it had to be turned in 3 times, not by the part. I should be getting it in a week or so, as soon as they get my ibook in first. the best part is that I only had the mid range ibook (early 2004) and they went ahead and gave me the best macbook. this so makes up for all the repairs I've had.

So the moral of the story is, buy your AppleCare! It was sooo worth it. I'll be buying applecare asap on my new macbook.

Looks like Apple is in a giving mood this month!

Which ibook configuration did you have that they gave you the blackbook?

I only got the base macbook, but it's still much better than the 1Ghz ibook I had!!

Congrats btw!!

i had the low end 14 inch model (so really the midrange one from the lineup in july 2004) i think they were being extra generous due to all the repairs I had.

There's no reason to buy AppleCare ASAP. You can buy it any time within a year of the purchase date. ;)
