I bought my ibook in july 2004 and it was a pretty good machine for the first year. I bought applecare just in case and now im really glad I did, in the last year I've had:
2 logic board failures
1 optical drive failure
1 display "wire replacement" - they didn't really explain this one
1 HD failure
plus some more replacement parts, basically i took it in for a "pinched display wire" (thats what the guy at the genius bar told me, the screen would randomly turn off, i could still see everything was on but it was very dark and id have to restart the machine to see it again) this summer and when i got it back everything was gone and I had to call and ask what exactly was repaired and she mentioned my logic board was replaced, my optical drive was replaced, and something else I cant remember. She said "you pretty much have everything new on the inside". Fun.
the hard drive failure was on sunday, I just got my machine back last wednesday because they did the repair in store. it seems that every 3 months something else fails and i have to take it in for repairs. when is it justifiable for me to just ask for a replacement instead of all these repairs?
