It was welcome in OS X 10.10 when they added Dark Mode.

However it is incomplete. I would like it if Apple updated Dark Mode to:

- Darken the translucent window chrome and sidebars for all windows

Note this is a bad mock up. Apple could make it look a lot nicer.

- Darken right click menu

If this is done we will have a true Dark Mode.

Here's to 10.12 making this happen!!

why would you think this will happen? have you read something about it coming? have you talked to people at apple? it's not a bad idea, but, unless you know something, it's just a random wish.

i'd like to see that, too, just...am not holding my breath..!

Your comment is a bit baffling. I of course have no inside information but maybe Apple read these forums and can see ideas.

Dark mode was a good start but they really should be able to darken the window chrome and right click panel to match...?

you're baffled? you think someone at apple will read your post, go back to the development team, and insist on making the windows the way you want?

seriously, if that were the case...there are a million posts on this forum alone telling apple what it should (or should not) do. it's something you'd like. me too. just don't expect it tp happen just because you'd like it...

This is one area where Linux desktop environments are quickly catching up, if they are not superior already. GNOME 3 has a dark mode and the UI design is quite superb for an open-source UI. The whiteness is becoming increasingly unbearable to me.

Wasn't there an app that darkens things depending on the time of user's choice? I think I saw it on Bodega years ago... Lol.

Yes
Doubtful. Apple has started a lot of nice things, and left them unfinished.
It's a big company, with all the politics that implies.

I too doubt it - but really hope they do.

I especially want to see darker toolbars! The toolbar has got progressively lighters with the newer OSX. In Snow Leopard it was grey now it is a whitish grey and harder to differentiate active and inactive windows.

An active window in El Capitan looks lighter in colour than an inactive window in Snow Leopard.
