This iPod primarily sits in my car connected to the audio system via a 30 pin cable in the glove box. I also use it occasionally during air travel when I don’t want to drain the battery from my iPhone 6 or the 3000mah spare battery that I travel with. It’s only about ½ full, but it does not include my entire iTunes audio library - It is extremely slow syncing songs with its spinning HDD which is annoying compared to its faster iPhone cousin.
I’ve owned this for nearly 10 years now. At some point the HDD will fail I’m sure, not sure about other components. Would someone please point me towards some resources as to how I would upgrade to SSD, new battery (and anything else)? One minor concern that I’ve noticed over the last few months is that when synching the device to remove songs from the device (not iTunes library removal), either the device or iTunes ignored the requested change. I haven’t look into it yet, it could very may be user error which I’ll acknowledge as a possibility, but I wanted to throw it out there in case this sounds like a symptom others have seen.
By opening up the iPod, is device integrity going to be compromised in other ways that may derail its future long term use?
