Wife and I have 9.7" 32gb wifi only iPad Pro's. I was planning on waiting some time yet but I note there are resellers out there that will pay $223 a piece for them. I bought them new in October 2017. Not sure if I would go with just the new iPad Air or the 11" iPad Pro. I note B&H has $50.00 off the Pro with no tax and free shipping. I'm wondering if I should wait till the holidays or pull the trigger now. I realize there will be better deals come closer to Black Friday ect. but I'm afraid I won't get the resale on my old devices. Thoughts and Suggestions Please?

Eh.. The speakers are the one thing holding me back there.
I find it very frustrating they didn’t put the better four speaker arrangement on all the iPads since that really truly is a benefit that even normal users would really appreciate.

My basic conclusion is that I don’t find any of the iPads to be enough of an upgrade given the cost required to do it, at least not for what I do with my iPad.
I’m going to keep hanging on and see if they do yet another update this fall to see what it might look like and if they do you could always get the current ones on big preowned sales from people that are upgrading all the time.
Honestly I’m just totally satisfied with my 9.7 iPP.
Of course there’s always concerns about our value going down. Honestly I put that below worrying about if what I’m upgrading to is actually worth all the money to do it. It’s always going to be a big chunk of change to go to a new pro and if it’s for a questionably valuable upgrade it’s just hard to justify at any expense for me.
My big concern would be outlaying 500-600 extra dollars for the swap and after a couple weeks time being like “why did I do this again?...It feels basically like my other one except now I have face ID…”

I think this stuff matters more if you really really push your iPad Pro hardware and I just don’t.

I decided to upgrade my first generation 9.7 with a new 12.9 pro. Got a $200 discount at amazon. Probably did not NEED it, but life is short. For me the speed, storage, display and speakers were all real pluses.

I spend time occasionally around a previous two speaker model and it doesn’t hold a candle to the speakers on my 9.7 iPP.
I’m constantly listening to audio out of my iPad and putting speakers on four/all sides is one of the best things they’ve done to them in recent years in my view.

either iPad pro is way too powerful to handle all the tasks. It is not a laptop, a trade in means you pay extra for a just unnoticable updates
Agree. It won't be a huge upgrade unless you value some of the specific features of the new pros or don't mind the negatives... As for speed, not a big deal. I have the 2 first gen pros. and the mini 5 and while the mini 5 is faster it's not like now my 9.7 pro feels so slow...
Frankly I feel more difference from the ipad air 2 to the 9.7 pro than from the 9.7 pro to the mini 5 / air 3. Or maybe it's just that past a certain speed it starts to matter less and less...
I still have the mini 4 and the mini 5 does make my mini 4 feel laggy, but the 9.7 pro? No, it's still great (other than apps refreshing more...)
This pretty much. Sure, one can easily notice the difference between 10 seconds and 20 seconds but most won't be able to differentiate 0.1s and 0.2s.
Honestly basically all of the hardware has been totally amazing and more than adequate for a couple years now and the power is just being un or underutilized by iOS still.

Yeah... I tried to make some tests to compare the mini 4, pro 9.7 and mini 5 and man the only conclusion was that they were all very similar, that is the mini 4 is faster than I remembered and very usable... (if it weren't for pencil and lack of LTE in the 4 it would have been hard to justify...) And it's the slowest 2GB RAM device of all....
The mini 2 instead is a disaster, like miles behind, hardly usable... which proves that really once you have the 2GB RAM ios 12 is a decent experience with any device. We'll see if there is any meaningful change in IOS 13..
