I currently have the Air 3 with 256 storage. This is my 3rd unit as two had white spot and one had artifact in the glass.

I want to use the iPad in the coming months for photo and video editing but don’t really need full capabilities until after summer maybe later. Was thinking of getting the new pro 11...

Should I wait until closer to fall for a new model?

It’s a tool. Buy when you need. They last for years at this stage anyway. But if there will be a new pro this year again, who knows.

There wont be any new pros until next year, so if you need something this year get it now.

A couple of thoughts: (1) there may not be new IPPs this year, but there may be better discounts as the year goes on; and (2) have you tested photo and video editing on your Air 3 to get an idea whether the Air might work until a great deal comes along (or you decide to wait until 2021)?

New iPad Pros were supposed to come in fall with 5G, A14X. and mini-LED for the 12.9 model, but I would bet they got pushed back to spring 2021, given Apple just released new iPad Pros, the pandemic, and rumors of delays for some 5G iPhone 12's.

I would wait at least until fall since you said you don't need better performance until after summer. Like the poster above me pointed out, there's already discounts on the new iPad Pros, but they are likely to be greater as time goes on.

You're definitely in the market for an Apple refurbished 2018 iPad Pro.

Apple Barclays Card now has a 0% offer. I am going to pull the trigger now. Deciding between 11 and 12.9...

What’s wrong with your Air now? I would use the Air till a pro comes out with micro LED display.

I’m thinking you’re probably confused on the technical terms, because micro-LED won’t be an iPad Pro for many years, if ever.

We tend to occasionally confuse mini and micro. I think mini is next, micro some day if ever.

The 3rd gen iPad Air has an A12 and 2GB RAM.

(1) Are you having problems with apps or browser tabs having to reload too often?

(2) Is the Air’s screen too small for you?

(3) Does the Air 3 support 2nd gen Apple Pencil? Do want pencil 2 support?

If answer to #1 is “yes” then +1 towards new iPad.

If answer to #2 is “yes” then you should look at a 12.9” Pro and +1 towards a new iPad.

If answer to #3a is “no” and #3b is “yes” then +1 towards a new iPad.

If your total is 0 then no reason to upgrade. If 1 or more then weigh that against your personal thoughts on how each upgrade will benefit you and against your budget for a new device and the impact of it all.

The app and browser tab reload issue is annoying.

I would like a bigger screen but unsure if I want 12.9.

The 2nd pencil would be nice for the charging aspect.

On top of all that, this is my 4th unit due to manufacturing defects. Really weary of this particular models reliability.
