If you did not know already: changing your avatar seems a drag as Settings > Users & Groups
only shows some pre-cooked icons. What ever you click, there's no "choose another folder" option,
contrary to wallpaper and screensaver menus.
Just put your own picture or icon in a place where Finder can show it.
Then drag the picture to the big icon shown in Users & Groups.
