Hi,

If your mac is over 6 months old, and the fans never kick on, download this program and kick the fans up to max rpm and let it sit for 15 minutes. After I did my mac ran cooler. As soon as I cranked up the fans a cloud of dust literally came flying out the back of my mac. It seems to aid performance when gaming if you kick up the fans even if your computer isn't running too hot.

Good Luck!

Yep, been around for awhile now. Not sure I'd do that all the time though.

my imac's GPU died from overheating, I suggest using SMC fan control when gaming, especially in bootcamp

on a macbook pro, the computer also overheats and needs the fan to run at 4000-5000 rpm

What thermal envelope would you recommend?

My Blackbook often runs in the low to mid 70s and I have seen my Airport card go up to 78 deg. Celsius. I am not gaming, only running VMWare alongside research and writing programs and Firefox.

or you can install this app and it controls your fans based on heat automatically for you?

Fan Control 1.2

(like SMC Fan Control, but much better because its automatic)
