As the thread title says I am interested in preordering the iphone (insert name here) however I work nights 6p-6a pacific while at work I do not have access to the internet. (I work at a prison. Some dumb state laws prohibit me from bringing in electronic devices.) Any tips for what I can do since I will obviously not be able to preorder it from apple or my carrier at&t and get a delivery day this century. is there any stores that people know of that do instore preorders when they are open. This will be my first iPhone launch and I am fairly excited for the new device. I will be doing a carrier installment so buying outright is not an option.

Any tips will do.

Have any good friends that you trust REALLY well? That seems to be your only option is someone else doing the preorder for you.

Can you get a family member to order for you? Honestly, the way pre-ordering has gone the past few years it's been "game over" very quickly. Usually 3 hours after launch even the least desirable models are gone.

I may be able to get my wife to do it. She has to work early in the morning and will most likely forget about it. She is a snoozer so an alarm will get snoozed a half dozen times.

Hint that Santa will be coming soon and he knows all the girls that have been naughty and nice. :D Plus wives and GFs love it when their SO "owes" them.

I will keep that in mind, she does want an ipad pro :D. For now I may cross my fingers for an iphone 5s style release.

My suggestion is to train a monkey to wake up your wife, buts thats me.

I know your job has a strict schedule and shift rotation. See if you can schedule a head of time with your boss to take a 5-10min smoke break, so you can go to your car and order the iphone.

Have one of the prisoners do it for you from one of their azz phones. Give them some extra food or something.

My tip would be to prepare yourself mentally for a November+ delivery date.

Even if a family member wakes up, the online checkout process is long and will likely crash several times. Anyone who is not fully committed to helping you will easily give up.

I have not experienced any crashes in the last three years on the website or Apple application. There has been a delay with the overall volume, but it's been rather seamless for me.

I think you've been lucky. A lot of people experienced not just delays, but carts resetting and failed checkouts while ordering the 7. With the 6, the site was down for 2 hours.
