Hey everyone, didn't quite know where to make this post at, but I guess this forum is as good as any. Please let me know if there's a more appropriate place for it.

Over the weekend, I upgraded to 3Gs from my original 8GB iPhone (2g). So I was planning on selling it, and was wondering what type of tips you would suggest to do so? Should I jailbreak it, and unlock it? Or isn't not worth the trouble? Just wipe it clean, and pop the SIM card out and give it a go on eBay?

Thanks for any help or direction you can give me.

I would restore, jailbreak and unlock it. Then you can ask for a few more bucks if you sale on Craigslist since all the hard work is already done.

What i did was post it on craigslist. I advertised it as the latest firmware blah blah blah but for an extra 20 or so i could unlock and jailbreak it. That way the buyer has the option and you dont scare away anybody that looks at jailbreaking or unlocking as a dark art.

Nice. Did this work? Were you able to get someone to buy easily? I'm thinking about $150-$175 would make it go quickly -- is that about what you got?

$150 for an Iphone 2g is asking a little bit too much imo. Considering an 8GB 3G is only $99. I would try and sell for 75-80.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I think you are way wrong. Check out eBay. Tons of 2g iPhones going for $150-$210. Yes, you can get a 3G phone at Apple for $99, but you also have to get a 2 year phone/data package. Not so with the one I'm (and loads of others) are selling.
