I looked a little bit, and didnt recall seeing any posts on how to find an iPhone to purchase. I know that the Apple website shows availability, but in my experience, it hasn't been very reliable to me. A couple of stores showed that it was available in the store, but when I arrived or called, they were already sold out. :(

Earlier, I heard it was real easy finding one, but I have had no luck yet! Does anyone have any tips? Or does everyone have one now since 6/29? ha. Is there a section on these forums specifically where people post store availability experiences live? Would be great! Thanks.

:)

Dreaming of iPhones......

FYI - just stopped by the Apple store in SOHO, NYC and they are sold out of 8Gb and have like '15 to 20 4GB' left.

salesperson said they were getting more, just didn't know when.......sounds like the ebay business might pick up this weekend if apple has sold thru it's initial supply.

As a fellow latecomer who's trying to find an iPhone, I think we're in a bit of a crunch right now. Most of the Apple Stores seem to be sold out, so the ones that still have them are being mobbed. At 9 AM today, the line outside the San Francisco Apple Store went all the way down the block. I nearly puked :p

It is kind of useless to even have an iPhone availability page. The page itself is only available when the stores are closed. If you check now, all you get is a blank page.

Agreed. Though all the Apple stores I went to today said to check their site out at 9pm each night, and to trust that that info listed is correct.

I just have to arrive there right when they open.........

Call the biggest Apple store you are willing to drive to and ask for availability. I called three Apple stores around me in Southern CA, including the Brea mall and Irvine Spectrum locations, and both were sold out.

After calling every AT&T store within 15 miles, I called the Apple store at The Grove in Los Angeles. They had quite a few left on Sunday at 6 PM, thank God.

Cursing my indecision

I'm having trouble with it too. Nobody here in Utah seems to have any left. I was there on launch night, played with one. Fell in love as does anyone who's touched it, but decided to sleep on it to see if I really wanted one. DUMB.
I found out very quickly that I wanted one extremely badly, and about the same time found out that there are no more here. So i'm forced to wait... either 2 weeks, or constantly check my Apple store.
If you find one, buy one. Period.

Yesterday the tracking page showed that only San Francisco stores had them. Now some of the other stores do. Clearly, they've got some kind of rotating system going on, where Apple Stores take turns receiving shipments.

just order it online, you won't die waiting a couple of weeks :)

That's what I ended up doing. But I might actually die waiting...

I'm in the same boat here. I went camping over the weekend and I come back reading impressions and wanting one. Except now I can't find one in the whole Sacramento region. One store had 'em yesterday but only 4 gigs which I didn't want.

Argh! I went to an AT&T store today and played around with it for the first time and man, that made me want one even more. Now to track one down...

Just tried the Century City store after seeing it was available after 9pm last night. I was unable to get there until 9:45 am (stupid meetings), and found out they had already sold out very quickly. Apple employees said that when they arrived to work at 8am, there were already 60 people waiting in line to purchase iPhones when they opened at 9.

Blah! One of these days. . .
