Hi, I got a mac recently and would like to make a iphone (and android) app for my College that has a map where you can scroll and zoom, connects to their site, and has a page of useful numbers and such. So about as simple as an app can get.

I know HTML and a lot about computers. But besides HTML i have no coding experience. What kinda investment am i looking at to build this app? Do i need to learn C and then Objective C as advised in the X Code Introduction? Or can i skip one of these steps?

Learning Objective-C without learning C is kind of like learning to drive a car without knowing how to use a steering wheel.

I'd probably find a good book on C ("A Book on C" is a good one - wow.. that's ironic) and read the first few chapters. The rest will come along with it. From there, I'd write a Hello World for iPhone and then see what you're up for.

I tried reading up on books but for me it didn't work. Instead I preferred watching tutorials on SDK Websites and YouTube. However everyone learns differently so it might not be for you.
