Have driven myself mad the last few days trying to work if:

A) I should get a new MBP Pro and pass on my old MB to my parents.

B) Should I get the MBP Pro now or wait till January when it will probably get some kind of upgrade.

If in doubt say yes is my philosphy so I just ordered:

15" MB Pro
2.4 Ghz
4GB Ram
160GB, 7200rpm, hardrive
glossy screen

Managed to get a 14% student discount :)

only downside is they are looking at 3 WEEKS !!! damn it.

you will love it :)

You ordered 4 gigs of RAM from Apple?!? How much did that jack up the price? I considered buying a memory upgrade from Apple but it's just so much cheaper at Newegg and I haven't had any problems with it.

You could have used the money saved buy 3rd party RAM, accessories and still have some money left!

MBP is an amazing machine, you'll fall in love with it from day one. Definitely should have gotten 3rd party RAM though.

Congrats!! Yeah the waiting does suck...I have another week to week 1/2 before mine will arrive. Should be the week I get home. My mouse will get delivered today though...

its true - you can get the ram cheaper. But then you have keep the orginial apple ram incase you every have to put it back in when you get the machine repaired... But to be honest I could bothered to read up about which is the best ram etc - basically I'm lazy :D

Its nice to dream lol :)

Well in with the purchase, you will love it, same spec as mine but glossy!!! Copycat lol :)

Hope you get a good :apple:!!

Here's hoping there aren't any of the "yellow band" screen problems I've been reading about.

As I have to wait three weeks, what would be cool is they come out with a release date for Leopard and give me a free upgrade --- well, I can dream....

Really really totally copying me now lol :) I'm putting Leopard on mine too!! And also got the 4GB RAM upgrade from Apple because I'm to lazy as well!!!

Think we are living parallel lives here ;)

Hope you dont get any yellow, was a worry for me but luckily it doesnt have it!!

So is your MBP still on order or if you've recieved it, if so how long did it take from ordering to delivery ???

You do occassionaly hear stories about 3rd party ram not working as it should - so therefore I think its not JUST lazynes to order the overpriced apple ram.;)

I can see I shall be haunting www.apecode.com for the next 3 weeks - just like I did when I ordered a Macbook - these damn computers are real time killers

Wow. I still can't believe that people (whether they have a lot of money or not) still order RAM from Apple. The additional cost can be used for other things. But hey, to each their own.

To the OP: As already mentioned, you are going to love your new MBP. Computing life is going to change as you know it. Have fun.

Gawd You are all starting to make me fell guilty.... - maybe I should change the order...:(

but that might delay it even more.....

Dude, all I have to say is that you are one rich SOB. :) Over $3000 for a computer? Man, I can only dream of that. You seriously should not have spend $630 on apple upgrade ram. but, ah, whatever, its your (ridiculous amount of) money. ;)
