Can anyone clarify if TMobile Apple iphone upgrade customers can preorder online at midnight or not when the new iPhones go up for preorder ? I know we can’t do the mail in phone exchange but can we still do the preorder portion and then pick up the phone and swap out in store? Thanks.

Not sure anyone can answer this but this is my first year on tmobile as well. I would guess we could pre order for in store pickup and do it the way it was during last years mess. Hopefully won't be as bad because everyone else can mail it in.

When midnight of Preorder day rolled around, all iUP customers had only the option of reserving a phone from their local store's preorder inventory (which is separate from the normal web order queue). Obviously inventory is limited on launch day and those quere quickly all reserved. So yes, the option was there at midnight for T-Mobile customers to upgrade-- though very few were able to actually do so. To compensate, Apple had to set up a hotline to call and work with a CSR directly to find a device to be able to upgrade. I was on the phone for hours. (But I DID end up with the device I wanted on launch day. If I had wanted Jet black, that wouldn't have been possible, though, and the iPhone X may be a similar scenario.)

The difference this year so far is that customers on other carriers won't be limited to that option. We'll have to wait until after the event tomorrow to hopefully get some more official information on how T-Mobile iUP preorders will be handled.

As long as I can preorder online as a TMobile iup member I’m fine with doing the phone pick up trade in in store.

Exactly. I just want to make sure that I’m able to reserve a phone for pickup on launch day. Going to a store doesn’t bother me as long as I have a shot at preordering rather than having to camp out.

So it looks like you can go on Apple site and get pre approved to preorder even if TMOBILE customer. I did it and now all I have to do is preorder without any financial issues. I even pre picked out my phone.
