Hi Im a total mac and macrumors newbie so I apoligise in advance if

1.these are stupid questions
2.If I posted this thread in the wrong section

I just brought an 20in intel imac CTO(my first mac!..no wait my first PC! )which was supposed to ship last wednesday but got delayed till the Mon 27 March. It just shipped on saturaay and it has an estimated delivery date of April 4th.

Basically if it shipped on saturady is there any chance that it will arrive this friday?

I wanted to know because Im getting it shipped to my workplace, and it will close at the end of the week for easter holidays for 3 weeks. Originally if the order had shipped on time I would of had an estimated time of Mon 27th but hey...

Also are there any people from the UK here who will know whether I can pick it up from my local TNT depot in the event it doesnt get here before my workplace is on hols.

Thanks.

SamJ

Yes you can but call them first. I picked up once from the Bermondsey depot, watch out for Rab C. Nesbitt's nasty brother on the gate if you go there.

Hi!

Welcome to MacRumors, and welcome to the Apple side of computing.

There's not much good i can say about TNT, so I won't say much at all… except, if you do call them to arrange to pick it up/change delivery address etc.:

1) Double check everything
2) Get a full name of who you spoke to
3) Call back and triple-check they know what you want them to do!

Oh, and crossing your fingers helps, along with a healthy dose of scepticism that you will actually meet your Mac when you think you will.

But it will be worth the wait!

kl. that is gd then if the worst comes to the worst. thanks for the quick responses.

The only thing that I'd be wary of when picking up from a depot is that they often require proof of identity.

If you were supposed to be having it delivered to a home address, that's easy to show. If it's a work address, they might be 'jobsworths' about it being a work address and you needing to show that it's yours, not the company's.

If I remember you need more than one proof of ID and address. Even after telephoning the Bermondsey depot and arranging the pick-up the ginger tw*t on the gate tried to not only refuse me entry but also refused to phone through to confirm my story. I had to call their office on my mobile to make them order him to let me in. B*st*rds.

kl I should be able to do that. I gt a few form of ID and billing address ID but the workplace address..hmmm I wonder whether a payslip with my name and the name of workplace form the address would workbecause I got a few of them. Thanks for the info its good to know I can prepare some ID from my work before I break up on hols.

Annoying, I know, but remember that Bermondsey is no Alton!

In Bermondsey they're probably more used to people trying to pull a fast one than in most other places in the UK.

<3 miles from Bermondsey now.
