First off i would like to say "im very sorry" i know there has been prolly a million of these post say help me help me, and all you iphone GENIUSES are laughing say what a loser.. I know what it feels like to have to help people doing the same thing over and over for different people. but to my point i would really love it if someone could help me with a walk through.

i have the 3gs 32gb just got it a month ago(bought on 3.0) now using 3.1.2

1-im getting confussed what to download to jailbreak it.

i have windows vista n i keep seeing shift key? eh

2- i dont want to lose all my info bc i have alot on there

3- do you get all free apps, when you jailbreak it, example like the tomtom 99 bucks in the store, can i get that free if i jail break it.

4- i understand that i have to download winter board and other apps to do different things i just really need someone to give me what to download and a guide. i know about the dev team, ive had the iphone 2g from day one, and now i would like to jailbreak bc you guys have some good stuff now.

5- if you dont really want to help PLZ dont blow up this post, and if you are willing to help me with a better walk through i would really appreciate it a lot.

1. The jailbreak method for 3.1.2 is pwnage, which is mac only. However, what that means is that a mac is needed to build a custom jailbroken firmware ipsw-file. Once you have that file, you need iTunes to install it, which can be either iTunes-mac or iTunes-Windows.

There's a thread going already that helps Windows users to find and download custom ipsw-files. Check it out: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/803052/. See point 3 below as well.

Once you have a custom-made ipsw, head over to the iClarified site, find the tutorial for jailbreaking the 3GS phone with pwnage on a mac, and follow it from the point AFTER pwnage tool builds the ipsw file for you - ie the point where you put your phone into recovery mode and connect to iTunes. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=5432

2. Back up your phone before you start point 1 above

3. No, you won't find info on that here. However, harking back to question 1, there's a site where you can buy official App Store apps for the same price as on the App Store, http://www.iphonefix.de/2009.2/ and it's a useful site for solving your first question.

This is piracy and not supported by this site and not discussed in the open forum. Look it up it says that on the rules.

Use a program called blackra1n to jailbreak, it's about as simple as it gets.

Jailbreaking wont erase anything information wise, but be smart and back-up before attempting anyway.

There are many free apps, some of them cost a couple of bucks. Piracy is one of the main reasons Apple is trying to stop jailbreaking. Don't be a douche, pay for the apps you use.

That depends on what you want to do. Themes are WinterBoard, toggles are SBSettings. Its really up to you, just read the boards and pay attention.
