Hey guys, I am considering buying the 32 GB 3G iPad. I already own the 16 GB wifi model, but was going to get the 32 GB model to increase my storage space and utilize the 3G and GPS. I already use my iPhone 4's wifi via mywi, so I kinda have a good setup, but the ipads main use will be for in car use/navigation/pandora etc (theiphone is great, but it's too small to try to operate and drive.) anyway, just wanting some fellow iPad users opinions as my girlfriend supports all my crazy ideas and my roommates think anything apple is over their heads...thanks!

I'd wait for an updated iPad from apple. Next one should have better hardware and probably a camera for video chatting and stuff.

i had the 64gb wifi and sold it and bought the 64gb 3g...I figured, I dont need 3g all the time, but when i need it it will be there, plus potentially a higher resale value. im an early adopter so I will get the second generation ipad probably on release day but for now know my ipad works in every way i need it to by having 3g...

They should not even sell wifi only. Might as well just stick with a touch. WiFi only is just a crippled device.

I have an iP4 with MyWi and my WiFi only iPad, which makes a great combo. I saved the extra $130 on the 3G, don't need extra data plan, and wherever I have the iPad, I'll have my phone.

Or maybe some of us don't want two data plans and are perfectly happy with a wifi model and mywi on their smartphones.

In addition, some of us don't need to online with the the iPad all the time. Especially if ones home an work is wifi. The ipad offline can be used to read books, PDFs, watch you tube vids, podcasts, daily news, writing email drafts, etc. For some this is enough. Even with no smartphone. Doing some of these things on a Touch is not at all convenient to some.

The 3G is very useful when you travel because it's unlocked compared to the iPhone which isn't. I bought a microsim got some data for one week and what could have cost like 200 dollars cost like 30. I think in the end it is useful because it is a plus when your not near a WiFi

If I had to choose all over again, would I have gotten the 3G? Maybe. But, only because I just like to have options. Practically speaking, given my usage patterns it's just not necessary to get 3G. I'm rarely if ever in a place with no Wi-Fi where I absolutely have to use my iPad (as opposed to my iPhone). If I am, then I just run MyWi. A lot of the comments from people who prefer the 3G don't appear to be taking into consideration the availability of MyWi. Since the OP has MyWi already, it doesn't really make much sense to get the 3G version. Nice to have, but not necessary.

Definatly go with the 3G

I would buy my Ipad 3G again in a heart beat I am typing this off shore in Hawaii on a cruise they want .70 cents per minute for wifi on NCL cruise line
As long as we are less the 5 miles out from shore I have full internet access with my Att&T account.

i originally bought the 64gb ipad, wifi model, then it was getting a bit of a ball ache for me topping up a 3 miff dongle, so i sold it and got the 3g ipad and a voadafone sim, which i may cancel and go to o2 so i can subscribe through the ipad!

shame that only one network allows this in the uk really!

anyway point im getting at is im now on holiday, no o2 signal or 3 signal, but voadfone has a few bars of gprs and im chugging along only ipad :D

sorry for the rambling, but basically what im getting at is i swapped my wifi for the 3g and i haven't regretted it one bit! plus the gps is a handy feature if you ever wanted to use it

Are you really that obtuse or are you unaware of the other solutions to having a 3G iPad. I had a wifi only version but I bought it just to check out if I really wanted an iPad. I sold it immediately, but before my 3G arrived, I used my wifi iPad with an old Nokia phone and JoikuSpot. As my operator allows two data plans connected to one account, having an iPhone and iPad with 3G was a perfect solution. Your crippled statement makes your argument moot.

I bought the 3G for travelling. We don't need to have monthly data plans here, you can pay $3 and just get access for 24 hours.. Perfect for when you're going to the airport.
