I finally got time (= money) to buy Tiger. As I feel time has taken its toll on my pb - like keyboard light not working, sometimes the screen turns black for a sec or two, etc... just little probs arriving slowly so I don't really notice. And then there might be all the probs I don't notice.

For these reasons I feel very much like doing a clean install of tiger. Get a fresh start. But before I just have some questions:

1 - will doing a clean install help at all?

2 - is there some way to clean install, but not having to reinstall all my apps. Fx is it possible to just copy them from my external drive where I have a bootable backup?

Hope you can help with some good MR-advice.

A clean install will probably help. It certainly won't do any harm. :)

However, you can drag some apps across to your new install but I recommend getting them from their original sources (CDs/internet) again. You're going to all the effort of doing a clean install, you may as well make it sparkly. :p

Yes, I also think that a clean install would be very smart in your case. Since you are having problems it would be best to do a fresh install of your applications also.

Thanks for your response mad jew and wdlove

Just finished backing up my pb and very soon now everything will be clean, clean. Good to know that my effort will probably be worthwhile. And ok, ok - I'll reinstall all the apps if you say so ;)

I'm pretty eager to get started now, but then it suddenly struck - what do I do with all my bookmarks in safari and firefox and my keychain?!

Am I right to think that for safari they're in users>library>safari>bookmark.plist and that I can just put that file the same place after I've updated?

Firefox?

For keychain:
users>library>keychains>and then the on called my username - is that correct?
