What's the general consensus on running a 2017 iMac off an external Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD installed in a 10 Gbps SSK USB-C case versus taking it apart in order to remove the internal 3.5-inch drive and replacing the SSD with said Samsung 970 EVO and a matching Sintech NGFF adapter? My 2017 iMac's AppleCare+ warranty is about to expire, and given that I've been running this machine off this external USB drive for more than half a year now without any issues whatsoever and the fact that unlike initially planned I have no intention of upgrading the CPU anymore (the ROI is abysmal!) I am beginning to wonder whether or not the amount of work and the risk involved in disassembling and reassembling it is actually justified.
