can anyone recommend me a to do list app that does push notifications w/ alerts and sounds when a task needs to be done. I see that Appigo's To Do list does this but its expensive. Any alternatives? preferable 99 cents or free?

thanks folks

I use the built in calendar application and set reminders/alerts for appointments and to-dos!

This has the added bonus of replicating in iCal (would also work for Outlook/Google Calendar) and alerting me on my desktop computer.

No need for 'push'

Sometimes you can overthink a problem when the solution is right in front of you.

I use Remember The Milk, but you'll need to spend $25/yr on the pro subscription to use it past the 15day trial. If you're just after a simple reminder service, then NotifyMe, or 2do, with iCal syncing maybe more what you're after.

I had a similar requirement recently looked at a few lite versions and free apps, and ended up with Appigo ToDo, it isn't the cheapest, but it works really well.. and has a very intuitive interface. I'd recommend it.

I don't get what you means by "can't keep using it, it runs out." ? Mind explain to me?

there is a limit to the number of tasks you can create (in total)..
I believe its 10 or so but how ever many it is it will stop allowing you to add more tasks and prompt you to upgrade to the paid version.

Todo is really worth whatever they are currently charging for it. It has really, really help me become a much more organized person. Use it mostly for work, but helps a ton at home too.

I have to tell you - I looked at a ton of these apps. I ended up buying ToodleDo, PocketInformant, and ToDo by Appigo to give them all a try. After a couple of weeks of testing, I find myself using ToDo as my go-to app for todo's. I love the way you can nest todo's underneath a project, can make a "call someone" todo that actually et's you call them right from that screen, etc. It's well worth the money. I only wish I had figured that out before I bought the others!

Todo by Appigo is great! I don't have a lot of todos, so [app]Pocket Informant[/app] works well for me, I can see both Tasks and Events for a particular day on the same screen. There are plans to add subtasks to Pocket Informant, but if you need subtasks now, or you don't need the calendar part of the app, Todo will certainly do the job.

Both apps support push notifications

I really like PI - had back in the Treo days and used it constantly. The problem I have with it is that the calendar part syncs with gCal so I have to go through some hoops getting iCal on two machines + the iPhone to use gCal and that the sync seems kind of slow. I'm really hoping they get PI to work off the local iPhone calendar - once that happens, game over.
