I want to purchase Aperture, but so sure I get version 3 now, they will announce 4 in the not too distant future, which will mean another purchase. I think I shall wait a bit longer and see what happens.

Yeah, this was exactly my thought process. But I got LR5 then...

I suggest that with rare exception, if people can afford a Mac, a DSLR with lenses...etc. they can afford Aperture 3 and the upgrade to Aperture 4 whenever it is available.

I wonder if folks think that holding on to Aperture 3, just like holding on to older OS releases, is some sign of virtue and will be rewarded in the next life? Pain and suffering are their own reward. Deal with it.

Generally, I'm very happy with Aperture 3 on my laptop. Looking forward to an Aperture X revamp, of course.

Flickr integration needs tightening up. It's a bit flaky at the moment.

And if you've enabled 2-factor authentication for your Apple ID, you'll be severely out of luck - for no apparent reason - if you try to use Aperture to create a printed book. Aperture doesn't understand Apple's latest and greatest authentication scheme, and you need to turn it off to order a book. Marvellous.
