I have a Nexus 6 that has a shattered screen but has been working like normal. I dropped it just now and the screen will not come on. I can hook it to my pc and it makes that noise in Windows when you hook up a device to usb, my wireless charger will also light up when I set it on it like normal. I am thinking the screen just finally died but I dont want to spend 175 bucks for no reason if possible

when you connect it to windows does it show up in my computer as an accessible external device? or on mac does android file transfer load?

also wouldn't it still be in warranty period - so even if you have to pay an extra charge to replace screen - if any other component is dead they likely will just switch it out to a replacement device (if you deal with Google direct).

I'd ring Google and see what they say. If they say theres a charge - chances are you'll only get charged the one fee and they will at least guarantee you'll get a working device at the end of it even if its a replacement ....

It doesnt show up but it never has on my desktop, my Nexus 5 I just put my sim in doesnt show up either though. It is a pure edition and when the screen was first cracked I called Google and Motorola and was told it would cost 175

I'd ring them again and start afresh, don't tell them its dropped twice - just report it like it was first time and ask again how much and ask if you paid $175 to get it fix would there be a guarantee on the work carried out. Make it sound like your being cautious (you are anyway) and if they say yep (usually there is a 90 day warranty on repairs) and then I would go ahead. As long as it's not water damage - they'll try to replace the screen - if there's more work required they will likely just swap out phone and send you a replacement.

No water damage for sure

In that case I personaly would actually do it. You likely will just get a swapped out replacement device, and a working device at an extra $175 is certainly worth more than a broken brick.

Yeah, that would be cheaper than buying one for sure

This is what I'd do as well.

OK I was going to send it in today but I am wondering if the price to repair will go down significantly once the new Nexus comes out. If so I will wait

Unlikely. If anything it could actually rise if they decide to stop selling the Note 6 completely.
