This is interesting: (via 9to5Mac)

If this is the only way to buy OS X Server, I would not be surprised if Lion turns out to be App Store only. Thoughts?

Wow. That's weird.

So, that's against the initial claims that Lion Server is going to ship with OS X Lion?

@thread: It's interesting. It seems for most of the people I guess. But this wouldn't imply that Lion would be Apple Store only. I highly doubt that's going to be the case.

It is still on Apple's Lion page http://www.apple.com/macosx/lion/

I personally think this is a backup solution for those who didn't install the server part at the beginning.

This would make sense except it says "buy" it from the MAS, not download.

Anything on Lion's page is subject to change. They've removed features in prior releases that have shown up there in the past.

I can't replicate this, so maybe it is from an earlier build.

It looks like in later builds they mention upgrade, not buy.

I saw that but figured it would be a nominal fee. It is also currently subject to change so perhaps it is just an avenue they were investigating.

Yeah I know, however I hope they learnt their lesson from the past. Although integrating Server is less of a feature and more of a strategic move which they have made public. Features can be dropped quite readily due to bugs etc but server was a well established platform and they are simply rolling this into one.
