Hi all,

Cant make my mind up whether to buy the 27" iMac to replace my 27" 1080i TV and PC..... I mainly want the mac to store my pictures and videos and to use the screen for my PS3/Movies. The only thing is its going to cost me an extra £110 for a dr.bott to use my PS3 and its only going to be 720p. I currently have a PC hooked up to my TV/PS3 with a creative sound card and it sounds great but due to the jacks I would have to change them too.

If it was your money would you replace PC/Speakers/TV for an iMac or just replace the TV with a 1080p tv for like £400 and keep the current setup? Can anyone comment on the quality of the iMac screen with a PS3 hooked up using dr.bott?

Thanks!

Well it doesn't sound like you actually want the iMac to be a computer. It sounds like you just want a new screen, in which case go get a TV.
the iMac is great and all, but if you won't actually be using it much, than why spend all that money?

Yea your probably right. I hardly use my PC, but ive got a few trips booked this year and was hoping to store all the photos/video on it which was the second reason for the mac.

I assume a LED 720p mac screen wouldnt look as good as say a LCD 1080p 32inch TV?

what you want the iMac 27" using for it will be money thrown out of the window , keep your tv or buy a new one if you think you need a new one and get a new mac mini is more then powerful enough to store photos/videos on , and if the 500 gb drive is not big enough you can always get a external one , there are harddrives available that fit perfect under the mini , and you still got money left over for some nice day out's on your trips ;)
