iPhone to jailbreak or not?

I am trying to decide between getting an ipad with wifi only or one with data. i currently am grandfathered in on att with unlimited data on my iphone 5. i would either have to get rid of the unlimited and join a family share plan for $10 a month, or have the ipad on its own account with the cheapest payment being $15 a month. should i do either of these options, or do you think it would make sense to jailbreak my phone and be able to turn on the hotspot whenever i need it (hotspot doesnt work on devices with unlimited data). i have wifi at home and will have it next year when i go to school, i just dont want to pay so much extra when i wont really need it. im really stuck on what to do here, thanks so much in advance!

depends on how much you think you will be using the 3G data on the ipad. if its going to be often, better of getting 3G so that you're not burning your phones battery whenever you need internet on ipad. if its once in a blue moon, and you will almost always have wifi, go with the wifi only and tether when you need to.

i went wifi only because between campus and my house i was always on wifi, with only a 5 minute walk separating me from the two.
