Not from the northwest, but I'll and my 2¢ anyways.
I get the purpose of the site- to list things you're looking to buy in hopes that one of the other people browsing the site has that item. But I'm not sure that the webmaster, you in this case, gets the purpose of the site.
If this site is about exchanging goods, and posting want ads...then why is there information on the weather, the latest news, and a random image gallery? Design your site to do one thing well, rather than a bunch of things poorly. If I want the weather, there are plenty of sites that already cater to that that I will load up before yours. If I want the news, same story. However, if I want to post a note in hopes that someone out there has what I'm looking for...that is what your site is for. Don't water it down with all this other, unrelated stuff.
