So... some people in other threads have touched on this, but nobody has really answered the question... should the MacBook battery be left in if it is going to be on overnight consistently?

To Plug or Not to Plug.....

it it's gonna stay plugged all the time then maybe it's better to take it off. takin your battery out when plugged will probably incease it's lifetime but lithium batteries deplete even if not used, so it's really up to you 
I read pages of threads on this and still dont have a solid answer. One thing is for sure, you battery will degrade over time no matter what you do. Its just a matter of proper maintenance, to slow this process down. Most suggest that you callibrate your battery once a month. Others say if its going to be plugged in for an extended period of time, to take your battery out, place it in a bag and throw it in the freezer. I think the monthly callibrate option is sufficient enough, but its up to you.
Here is the answer: Yes... everyone: just leave the damned thing plugged in and stop worrying about it. It's an intelligent battery, and that is not a new concept. It's not going to explode or have a noticeable capacity reduction, overheat, melt, or anything because you leave it plugged in all the time. It's knows when it's charged and that's all there is to it.
Actually USING your battery all the time is far far more detrimental to capacity than leaving your computer plugged in.
