Ever since I up graded from 10.7.5 to Sierra I get this pop up from time to time. Some times at start up other times just random. I cleaned out my start up items. I have the latest Java installed. What in Sierra needs the full JDK installed ? Are there any security issues by installing it or how do I make it go away ?

To use the “java” command-line tool you need to install a JDK.

It took me a while, but I had to track down a helper app that auto loaded on startup and finally delete it on el capitan. (I think it was for T-mobile's service Bobsled, which long ago was cancelled.)
I used this article to search all the places, I think my issue was something in a launch daemon folder.
