Hi all,

I have a pair of urBeats 2nd Generation earbuds and they have broken for the fifth time. I use them perhaps once a week, and over the last 14 months, they have failed due to a variety of reasons. I have contacted Apple about this and I have told them that I expect some kind of material compensation. They told me to go through with the urBeats repair/replacement first and then "we can go from there".

I said okay and I am now in the process of getting them replaced through Apple.

I was wondering to what extent I can bargain with Apple on this one? Can I go to the extent of getting a free pair of Solo2 HD headphones? Or will the compensation be minuscule? I have used and bought Apple products since 2007, I have spent many thousands of pounds (I'm in the UK) with them, etc.

Just wondering, as a guide...

Thanks!

Yes, but beats are a really bad product, believe me!!!, my headphones studio v2 (blue) are totally screwed, the materials are pretty bad (ear pad cushions) and at the end Apple can say to you there's no more replacements (they said that to me), IMO you should try to get a compensation and buy idk another headphones brand like the QC25 by bose

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Yes, I must say that I have heard that... and experienced that!

But then Bose, which I know are great and I have wanted a pair for a while, are very expensive... but I don't think they would entertain me asking for monetary compensation...

Highly unlikely. Apple won't take into account the amount you spend, and the "we can go from there" comment isn't a promise or commitment but instead them trying to manage expectations. It's like saying "we'll see" to someone when you just want them to drop the issue.

Also, out of interest why stick with them? Reviews online all seem to indicate that their reliability is crap, just get a refund and put that £80 towards a pair of Sennheisers or something.
