Now that we can have widgets on the Home Screen, the today view screen seems... pointless? Is there a way to disable it?

Personally, I would prefer to be able to merge the today view and the home screen. I don’t like my widgets mixing with my apps/folder icons. I liked having them on the left hand side of my screen.

I hate it when they change things to “make them more flexible” but not flexible enough for me to change it back to how it was and/or how I like it. I feel like this is starting to happen more and more.

The new Home pages suck! We went back to iPadOS 13 where we only had 6 x 5 app icons patterns. With iPadOS 14 we got widgets on the left side of the screen, but we still had 6 x 5 app icons in the meaning space. I you look at an iPadOS Home page, you can see that the space for the left side widgets took up a 4 x 5 grid, which effectively increased the over all page grid to 10 x 5, and it looked better with much less wasted space. with iPadOS 15 the total page grid is back to 6 x 5 with the ridiculous large space waste we had under iPadOS 13. Total crap now. Plus we no longer can display the cool looking Time and Date on the left side, nor can we display older Pre-iPadOS 14 widgets on the Home page. I have a few of the older widgets, and now I have to swipe right to use them. All Apple did was screw up Home pages for a few crappy, slight sizing changes in Widgets, plus they added more steps.

I'm glad I chose not to install iPadOS 15 on my iPad mini 5. Unfortunately I’m stuck with it on my iPad Air 2020 now.

Totally agree. That was the first thing I noticed after the update, now we are back to so much wasted space between app icons 🤦‍♂️ My whole Home screen is messed up and I can't redo it, since you can't fit the same amount of apps on a home screen anymore.

This widget thing on iPadOs is a mess. I have apps the give me 'widgets' in today view, that do not give me widgets on the home screen. I have a Today view section, that has widgets that I can't move to where I want to move them to, in the today view section. I have widgets on the home screen, that I can't seem to arrange how and where I want because it moves icons around on it's own. I have widgets that have no consistency, for example, on my iPhone I like to stack my music widgets, so they take up one 4 row long column and I just swipe through them. I can't do this on my iPad. And none of them are interactive. The result is what they are supposed to do is give me a very personalized home screen that works for me. The problem is, as a result. I can't actually create this. What a mess.
