I'm not sure about this, but I believe Toodledo, the online service Todo syncs to, can send SMS reminders, but I think that's a service you've got to set up from the Toodledo website (it also depends on how your carrier has SMS set up, Softbank in Japan only allows SMS domestically, so I can't get SMS from Google or Toodledo (neither is based in Japan).

i am sorry to you all but i have been looking around and i am more confused then ever. i am just looking for a simple stupid app for todo list that will sync with my ical and give me a reminder alarm if i set an alert. i have seen so many and to tell you the truth most of what is offered is not needed. i use entourage for mail now only i used to use the contacts and calander i now set up as backup in case mobileme fails, but i use ical and evernote so i am covered. since apple has yet to give us a good todo program( i have no idea why) i need a simple stupid one. i have todo and its good it syncs nice with my mac but there is no alarm feature. any suggestions please.

Are you wanting an alarm feature where if the app is closed on your iPhone or Touch, that you'd get an alert or reminder? Or do you want the alarm to transfer to your Mac and alert you on it?

Right now, no app can do alarms because apps are not allowed to run in the background. You have to open it to get an alarm from one, stupid, I know. Only way around this is if the app syncs with an online service that can send you an e-mail or sms text message to alert you. I think apps like iRibbit can send you a text message when an Ebay auction you are watching is near ending. I haven't looked much into to do apps for text messaging since I don't have a plan for that. But it may be possible to have it sync with a popular online to do site, which in turn may be able to send a text or e-mail. Maybe create an e-mail account with google mail, and set it to check every 15 minutes.

Only way to probably set an alarm with the iPhone alarm clock or probably the built in calendar.

Though, when 3.0 OS comes out, push will finally be activated, hopefully, and suddenly apps will be able to send you alerts without having to be an e-mail, text, or have the app open. I can't wait for this when bill reminder apps get it so I don't forget a payment.

thank you and you are correct. now the only way to set up a reminder is to go to ical and when you enter a todo you add the alarm to notify you. its the only way at the moment or web based like so others have said with a paid service(crazy) but if you enter a todo on your iphone using the todo app there is no reminder alarm. thank you for your input.

TouchTodo is a task app that syncs with Google Calendar. Gcal is a free service.

iCal can sync to Gcal via a spanning program.

Just an idea...
