+1 pretty much this. It's grown kind of old and annoying by now.

I think if you are real quick on the trigger, you might get a stock config 4 or 6 core by dec 31st.

If you want an 8 or 12 core, or the d700.. you are looking at Valentines day.

#1 was probably true too for a select few. It was "who is calling" as opposed to "when did you call".

There are probably some resellers and value added resellers that got these. (some of them probably got to stage their orders at the front of the queue. All they had to say was "do it " or " I have a second set of orders now, that I collected on Wednesday." .). Magazines, Tech porn press, and key bloggers probably got them too if they used connections.

Gotta chuckle though at the "nobody is going to buy this" crowd.

Not going to be surprised though if this eases up before Feburary. I bet there is a fair number of folks who ordered through multiple channels and whichever arrives first they'll keep and cancel (or return if timing is close) the others. This is kind of Apple launch that tends to draw speculators. March may not show because once at Feburary point the speculators are going to start back off.

I went to an Apple Store and they basically said "order it online". In fact, they still had a previous tower sized Mac Pro on display.

If I had know I couldn't get at least a stock model at the store, I wound have ordered it early this morning, and wouldn't have to wait until March 5 for it.

for future products place the order AND go into store, then cancel if you get it in store
