Please post your experience with TomTom for iphone so far! Tell us how it is and if all the features are still there that are in a regular TomTom. I have not bought it yet i will be buying it when the car kit is made available.

I don't really think you could get an accurate review when the app hasn't been out for even a day yet...
oh sorry no i havent bought it yet im waiting to hear about it also! and i do agree that the price is too expensive, because you know the car kit is probably going to be about 200$ that is just not worth it to me

It may not be as bad as it sounds, though. AT&T Navigator App, for instance, requires a monthly payment of $19.95. I'd much rather pay once upfront and be done with it than keep paying month to month. I hate the subscription model.
Not to be sarcastic, but do you still want to see the review of the app that you don't think is worth the price?

Well, I originally bought Sygic and it was ok but lagged too much. The reviews didn't mention that so I bought it and hated it.
Then there was Navigon. Everyone loved it but the street names are too hard to read and the text is entirely too small.
Then I bought G-Map. Very nice app but the speed limit indicator isn't vary stable. It fluctuates from say 35MPH down to 30, up to 37 and I've been going the same speed the whole time.
IGO is nice but it doesn't show the speed limits in my area no matter what street I am on.
Yesterday, I bought CoPilot but I haven't tried it out yet because my 3GS bricked on Friday and I got it replaced Sunday night. I might go out and try it for a few minutes. I haven't really seen much about this one on MacRumors so I don't know what to expect.
I'm just looking for an app that will be as close to my Garmin 850 as possible so I can just bring my phone with me. TomTom looks like it's missing some things or least they left them off the description but I'm willing to try it out.

ha i do want to want to hear reviews because i have been looking for a GPS related device for my car and if it comes out to be around the price of a regular TomTom i will reconsider what i buy. I wonder if they will have special offers for the iphone version, for instance if you bought the tomtom app before a certain date the car kit could possibly be a cheaper price. Just opinion
Since we're talking about the Navigation app, I thought I'd ask about AT&Ts app. It's a pretty small app (2-3mb) so I assume the maps are downloaded to the phone. Well, what if you are driving across the state and hit an Edge-only patch or the dreaded O icon? Will the GPS (AT&T app) info be interrupted? In other words will it continue to download the map info?
I'd hate for that to happen right when I have to make an important turn, take an exit, etc.

This is the problem with over the air maps. They display will either go blank or freeze up till you get to a better spot with good reception again. I tried the AT&T app the day it came out and cancelled the service two hours later because of this.
It's always better to have the maps on the phone so the GPS app will not stop just because of poor cell service. (I'm a nerd ha ha
)
The ATT app will only show you a new map if you have a internet connection using edge/3g/wifi... so if your connection dies .. so does your app.
No maps are stored on the phone with ATT.
What's the point really when standalone TomTom GPS units starts at $120.
They are definitely using the hype. Had it been $50 it would have been competing even better. It's not as if the relationship between the iPhone and buyer is cheap to begin with.

$140 for the European version sucks.... especially since you can get a TomTom One standalone unit for about $90 all in (unit, window mount, car adaptor etc..).
Ive waited for this app since they announced it and in all honesty, im not going to buy it. I work for one of the biggest Sat Nav retailers in the U.K and have always been a massive fan of the Tom Toms, i needed a Sat Nav the other week and since my trusty old Garmin C510T broke i thought i may as well get one for my iPhone. I purchased Co-Pilot Live and i'm totally amazed!!! What a app for £23.99, it does have a few faults and a few things that could make the app better but some of these are due to be fixed in a update soon. I would recommend this app to anyone considering any navigation software for the iPhone. For now, Tom Tom is on hold. Nick.
Ok so I've purchased the US version and am syncing it to my phone now.
A while ago, I went out and tried CoPilot for the first time and I think it is truely the best out of all of them except for TomTom since I haven't tried it yet.
CoPilot actually showed EVERY street name that I came accross, something no other GPS iPhone app has done yet. POIs are easy to see and figure out.
OK so TomTom is now installed on my iPhone. I open the app and after about a minute, the app crashes. I reopen the app and this time it loads fine. The map looks a little boring, not much to it compared to IGO and CoPilot. CoPilot just has bright map colors and POIs just stand out.
I went to the Navigate to contact section and selected a contact that clearly had an address added in. I selected it and it told me that the address was in a format that the GPS couldn't understand and would I like to enter it or something very similar to that. I tried every contact I have and the same thing happened.
I'll give the app a full try out in the morning when I go to the bank. I'm still undecided in my opinion of course.
