Nah, I knew it existed. Just happy they are moving it along. Hopefully it will be released soon.

i couldn't open the files the FCC released. a) whats a .cgi and b) does anyone want to put some of their photos up here?

Interesting, wonder how the subscription prices are going to work out..

There is no subscription. You just purchase the app and the dock and that's it.

I am really considering this now especially since it works with any GPS app for the iPhone/iPod touch. I have the Navigon app for NA and love it!!

I had to download the "cgi" file and then rename it to "pdf". That seemed to work.

If the total package is less that a new Garmin then I'll consider this if the reviews are good. I'm after giving away a Garmin as part of a car sale deal and need a new one. Though it would be great to just plug the iPhone in, one less gadget to look after.

Something I haven't seen any discussion on is security. Most people don't leave their sat-navs in the car cos they'd be a target for break-ins. All they leave is the plastic frame. With this, the frame will be worth a fair bit. Will people supposed to remove it every time they leave their car?

I do this now. You bet I'd do it with a valuable dock, like the TomTom one.

I just noticed that the docking pins that charge the iPhone appear to rock in and outward probably to make it easier to dock and remove. Never knew that...kinda neat

You better take it out of the car or at least put it out of site. People will probably be after this being that it will be a popular product for the iPhone.

People will break into cars if they see the suction cup's dirt rings on the windshield in hopes of finding the GPS tucked away. To not take the dock down would be like begging to have your car broken into.

2 weeks ago I had my car broken into. They must have used a "jimmy" to unlock the door. They opened my console and moved a Garman GPS w/clip and cord out of the way (also a pair of UE-11 Pro IEM's) to steal my wallet. Tell me that's not weird?

My dad has his TomTom stolen from his car while parked in central London. He was only popping out for a couple of minutes to get a coffee and when he came back the window was broken. Broad daylight too. Always pack it away, lesson learned the hard way I guess.

I'm hoping that this can swivel so that the suction cup can face down. I use a Nav-Mat on the dash, which lets me easily toss it in the trunk while not disrupting the suction cup itself.

According to the instruction manual in the FCC release an adhesive disk is included for dash mounting. So, yes, it should work just fine for you.

Maybe you misread my post (or I wasn't clear) but my Garmin wasn't stolen. They picked it up and moved it out of the console (along with my UE-11 Pro's) and after getting my wallet (which they had no way of knowing was in my car) they put the Garmin and UE's back in the console and closed the lid. Try and explain that one:confused:

In a way I wish I had my wallet in my pocket and they did steal the Garmin (but not my UE-11 Pro's) since I just bought Navigon.
