TomTom question

I searched a bit but couldn't find an answer. Anyway, is it possible to run TomTom on a deactivated iPhone? I'm going to be upgrading to the new iPhone and was thinking of using my old 3G as a dedicated GPS/music device.

It should work, try it in airplane mode. It will not get traffiic info and such though.
